Knowledge and Skills::

Ø       Expert working knowledge of codes, standards and industry practices associated with piping systems, including all ASME published standards for piping materials and design.  Strong working knowledge of API standards and recommended practices associated with piping systems.   Strong knowledge of piping requirements described by Federal Codes such as 49 CFR Parts 192 & 195, 30 CFR Part 250, 29 CFR Part 1910.119.  Expert ability to specify piping system materials conforming to same, as appropriate for CADD database development and purchase requisitioning 

Ø       Expert ability to calculate piping stresses, bending, loading and flexibility, by hand calculations, and CAD systems such as Caesar II.

Ø       Expert ability to direct the modeling of piping systems for dynamic and harmonic analyses by outside firms specializing in such analyses, and expert in design of supports, guides, restraints and anchor provisions to meet the requirements of such analyses.

Ø       Expert ability to establish requirements for piping supports, guides, restraints and anchor provisions to meet all design loads imposed by given piping configurations, sizes / allowable spans, pressure testing, and process flows / pressures / temperatures, hammer effects, etc.

Ø       Strong ability to plan and document proper piping system installation sequencing and provisions

Ø       Strong ability to review 3-D CADD models and 2-D drawings for optimized routing and prudent engineering judgment considerations, above that expected of a senior design draftsman.

Ø       10 years (plus) experienced with materials and processes associated with the transportation by pipeline of hydrocarbons, including those regulated by FERC 7c and DOT.

Ø       Expert working knowledge of codes, standards and industry practices associated with pipeline design and construction, including all ASME and MSS published standards for piping materials and design.  

Ø       Expert working knowledge of pipeline design requirements prescribed by Federal Codes such as 49 CFR Parts 192 & 195, 30, 29 CFR Part 1910.119, Nationwide 12 Permits, and others.  Expert ability to specify piping system materials conforming to same, as appropriate for CADD database development and purchase requisitioning 

Ø       Expert ability to calculate pipeline stresses, bending, loading and flexibility, by hand calculations and / or by recognized CAD programs

Ø       Expert ability to establish requirements for pipeline bedding and supports, negative buoyancy, thrust blocks, guides, restraints and above ground anchor provisions to meet all design loads imposed by given piping configurations, sizes / allowable spans, pressure testing, and process flows / pressures / temperatures, hammer effects, etc.

Ø       Expert knowledge of pipeline construction in all soil mediums, including rock.   Strong ability to specify geotechnical surveys to be performed by companies specializing in such investigations and analyses, along with the ability to understand the returned results and implement appropriate project specific requirements

Ø       Expert understanding of corrosion, abrasion and all other common coating systems.

Ø       Strong familiarity with sacrificial and impressed current cathodic protection systems, including appropriate isolation provisions

Ø       Strong familiarity with lightning suppression systems

Ø       Strong understanding of ability to plan and document construction methods as required for determining permanent and temporary ROW requirements, conventional onshore lay construction, horizontal directional drills, horizontal slick and dry boring, trench and spoil requirements, sequencing of installation and testing, material handling and traceability, etc.

Ø       Expert understanding of construction, operation and instrument pigging operations, including pipeline designs accordingly

Ø       Strong understanding of land surveying, coordinate conventions and conversions, industry standard alignment drawings, maps, and ROW acquisition support and agreement accommodations, etc.

Ø       Within pipeline related facilities, strong ability to review 3-D CADD models and 2-D drawings for optimized routing and prudent engineering judgment considerations, above that expected of a senior design draftsman.

Ø       Electrical and/or Instrument Design Checker should have 20+ years experience involving offshore platform or compressor station design.

Ø       Electrical & Instrument Design Checker will coordinate with Group Leader in the production of drawings by the design-drafting group from the initial start to the completion or final issue. Should be knowledgeable of all applicable codes, standards, symbols, specifications, and project related requirements.

Ø       The Design Checker shall be capable of doing the following in a timely manner:

Ø       Review design scope and review steps outlined to Group Leader and group personnel by Drafting Supervisor.

Ø       Acquire basic engineering design requirements with Group Leader based on job related events, decisions, or instructions to Group Leader. 

Ø       Supervise file management of drawings with Group Leader by ceasing all modification after submittal for check to ensure a secure and complete review. Incorporating additional comments only after a check cycle has been completed and such comments are consistent.

Ø       Provide a list of standard associated support documents/drawings to be supplied with each drawing being checked which would vary by type of drawing.

Ø       Verify clearance and interference to coordinate with other disciplines, vendor data, and client comments/revisions.

Ø       Electrical & Instrument Drafter shall coordinate with the Designer and Group Leader in the production of drawings. Should be familiar with all applicable codes, standards, symbols, specifications, and project related requirements.

Ø       The Drafter shall be capable of doing the following in a timely manner:

Ø       Review design as outlined by the Designer and Group Leader.

Ø       Acquire basic design requirements from the Designer based on job related events, decisions, or instructions as per the Group Leader. 

Ø       Maintain file management of drawings per Designer and cease all modification after submittal for check to ensure a secure and complete review. Incorporates additional comments only after a check cycle has been completed and such comments are verifiably consistent per the Designer.

Ø       Develop drawing from support documents/drawings that would vary by type of drawing supplied with each drawing during development.

Ø       The Drafter shall be capable of verifying clearance and interference with Designer to coordinate with other disciplines, vendor data, and client comments/revisions.  

Ø       Should be capable of comprehending design instruction to develop drawings to provide basic backgrounds to provide additional information on as data is available.
